Copy Blank Text

Blank text generator

Pick a blank character, set the amount, and copy it. The test box lets you check that the text stays invisible.

How the generator works

The tool builds your blank text from three choices. Each one changes the result.

The dashed boxes under the controls show your amount, up to 80 boxes. The text area below them holds the real characters. It looks empty because the characters have no shape to draw. The line beneath it names the character and gives the count.

Pick the right character for the job

Your goal should drive the choice. This table gives a starting point based on common results. It is not a promise.

Empty chat messageBraille Pattern Blank1

Tall blank messageBraille Pattern Blank, one per line5 to 10 lines

Start small. If an app accepts one character, you rarely need more.

The 10 characters in detail

Three groups cover every option in the tool. Each group behaves a little differently.

Filler and pattern characters

Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800) is the Braille cell with no raised dots. Unicode files it as a symbol rather than a space, so trim checks tend to skip it. Hangul Filler (U+3164) is a placeholder that Korean text uses inside syllable blocks. It counts as a letter and renders about as wide as a full-width character. Halfwidth Hangul Filler (U+FFA0) is its narrow twin. Choose it when the wide version leaves too much room.

Zero-width characters

Zero Width Space (U+200B) marks a spot where a line may break, and it takes up no room. Zero Width Non-Joiner (U+200C) tells the renderer not to connect two neighboring letters. Persian and Hindi writers use it every day. Word Joiner (U+2060) forbids a line break at its spot. All three are format characters, so some apps drop them during paste or save. Their invisibility is real, but their survival is not guaranteed.

Space characters

Em Space (U+2003), En Space (U+2002), Thin Space (U+2009), and Ideographic Space (U+3000) are true spaces that differ only in width. An em space equals the font size. An en space is half of that, and a thin space is about one fifth. An ideographic space matches one full-width Chinese, Japanese, or Korean character. These work best between visible words, where a trim check cannot reach them.

For a quick lookup, this table lists all ten with their Unicode category.

How to paste blank text

The steps are the same in most apps. Follow these:

  1. Choose a character and an amount in the tool.
  2. Press the copy button and wait for the word "Copied".
  3. Open your app and tap the field where the text should go.
  4. Press and hold, then choose Paste. On a computer, press Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac.
  5. Send or save, then check how the result looks.

Profiles need one extra thought. To make a gap in a bio, paste the character on its own line. Keep an eye on limits, too. Instagram allowed 150 characters in a bio at the time of writing, and Discord caps server nicknames at 32. Each blank counts toward those totals, so a long run leaves less room for letters.

Test before you send

Paste your blank text into the test box first. Then press Shift and the Left Arrow key. Wide characters show a highlight, while zero-width characters show none. For those, trust the count under the tool instead.

Testing in the app matters just as much. An app may strip a character that the test box keeps. Send a trial message to yourself or a friend before you use it for real.

Technical details

All ten characters live in Unicode's Basic Multilingual Plane. UTF-8 stores each one in 3 bytes, while JavaScript counts each as a single unit. That is why the count you see matches the amount you set. A full 500-character run weighs about 1,500 bytes, which is small enough to paste almost anywhere.

The one-per-line layout adds standard newline characters between the blanks. Five lines therefore hold 5 blank characters and 4 line breaks.

Blank text generator FAQ

What is the difference between Braille Pattern Blank and Hangul Filler?

Braille Pattern Blank is a symbol with normal character width. Hangul Filler is a letter that renders wider. Chat apps often accept the first one. Name fields often accept the second.

How many blank characters should I copy?

Start with one. Raise the amount only when the gap looks too small. In the one-per-line layout, 5 to 10 lines make a tall blank message that pushes older chat text up the screen.

Does blank text work on iPhone and Android?

Both systems support all ten characters because both follow Unicode. The app you paste into decides whether it accepts them.

Why does the text area look empty?

The characters have no visible shape. The line under the box confirms how many characters it holds, and the dashed boxes above it give a visual count.

Does the tool work without an internet connection?

Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool builds text with code already in your browser, and the copy button uses your device clipboard.

Can I mix two blank characters in one string?

The tool repeats one character at a time. To mix them, copy one, paste it, then generate a second and paste it next to the first. Test the result, because apps check each character on its own.
